Helping Veterans Achieve Housing Stability – The Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Voucher Program
HACA is an enthusiastic participant in the national effort to end homelessness among veterans. Landlords, you can play a vital role in this endeavor as you all have the power to open doors for Vets and give them the stability they deserve. Read more about the need and how you can partner with the VASH program to end Veteran homelessness.
Similar to the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Voucher Program helps homeless veterans lease safe, affordable housing. VASH is a partnership between the Veterans Administration (VA) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Participating veterans receive case management and clinical services provided by the VA, to help them maintain healthy, productive lives.
HACA currently administers over 300 VASH Vouchers.
In choosing to rent to Veterans exiting homelessness, landlords get a stable source of rent and the peace of mind that Veterans receive ongoing supportive services from the local Department of Veterans Affairs staff or community organizations to help them through unexpected crises.
HACA is offering a $2000 incentive payment to owners who lease a unit to a VASH family.
